Long hours, shift work, family activities, social life...how do you fit it all in - let alone diet and exercise?
As a full-time working mom/wife, I am not going to sit here and tell you that it's easy to meet all of life's demands. I get asked all of the time: You are so busy, how do you do it...how do you have time for it all? Here are some simple, yet important concepts I have come to grasp over the years that has helped and motivated me "do it all."
Stress on the job, activities with the kids, crazy work schedule...many use these, as well as a laundry list of others things as excuses for not exercising or eating right. Once I found myself in an unhealthy place and decided to make the change, I told myself that my excuses should be my motivation. The healthier you are the better you can cope with stress, be more efficient at your job and have the energy/fuel to keep up at work and with the kids.
We make time for what's important - 1 hour working out or meal prepping is such a small fraction of your day yet has the ability to impact you in such a positive way. Can you say that about the time you spend watching TV or playing with your phone? I mean, you can spend hours hitting that Candy Crush high score, but you can't do a quick 30 minute workout?!? Your health is a worth while investment and should be a top priority.
Plan ahead. Poor planning often leads to bad last minute decisions. Get your gym clothes and lunch ready the night before, keep quick snacks in your go bag/at your desk for those times you get held over, schedule a workout with a partner to help with accountability. Make living a healthy lifestyle easy to do.
If you can adopt these so called philosophies, you will find yourself able to "do it all" and live a balanced life.
