We've all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating a high-protein breakfast supports brain function and leads to increased alertness throughout the morning. But what do you do when you are tired of the same old egg whites and Turkey bacon? Have you considered Protein Pancakes?
Pancakes are getting a healthy makeover with high-protein ingredients. Protein pancakes can be made in several different ways with several different main ingredients. Whether it's Greek yogurt or protein powder, switching up the basic ingredients can give this breakfast favorite a much healthier nutritional profile.
To make protein pancakes at home you can mix a scoop of your favorite protein powder into some pancake batter. You can also make Protein pancakes at home with just a few ingredients in as few as four easy steps:
1 1/8 cup of oat bran or oatmeal
1/2 cup milk
4 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tsp olive oil + oil for frying
1 tsp honey or stevia + pinch of salt
1- Put all of the ingredients into a large mixing bowl except the olive oil and mix well.
2 - Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Spoon the olive oil onto skillet.
3 - Pour the batter evenly in the pan and cook until set and lightly golden.
4 - Flip carefully with a thin spatula, and cook until browned on the underside.
My favorite kinds of protein pancakes are Kodiac Cakes. You can buy a 20-ounce box of Kodiac Cakes at most Target stores for only $4.99. To make Kodiac Cakes all have to do is mix water with their pancake batter. A half-cup of Kadiac Cakes is only 190 calories, 30 grams of Carbs, 2 grams of Fats and 14 grams of protein!
