"Making Life Changes-Amazon Style" with Khrystel Pigeon

In this episode of The BOLO Podcast, we're speaking with Khrystel Pigeon. From an early age Khrystel developed an unhealthy relationship with food, wasn't very active, and was overweight.

After dealing with a hard breakup after the holidays Khrystel stepped on the scale and didn't like what she saw. She decided then that for herself and to be a positive role model for her daughter, to get healthy. She was introduced to the gym and lifting weights and realized that she didn't have to be particularly to be coordinated and she started to lose the weight.

After 3 years of hard work she lost 60 lbs. Khrystel continues to work on her strength and maintaining a healthy body weight. She now helps others reach their health and fitness goals and a healthy body image.

Nutrition/Fitness Tip - Staying Motivated

This week's nutrition/fitness tip from Tamrin Olden

Motivation is the key to longterm success with your health and fitness goals. But sometimes staying motivated can be harder than the actual workout and nutrition part of it. I oftentimes get asked "how do you stay so motivated?" To be honest with you, that's not always the case; I have my moments, as does everyone else, where my drive is just not there, when that 4am alarm goes off and I would rather sleep...or when I want to give into temptation and overindulge on junk food. It comes down to being able to push thru those moments and not let a bad moment turn into bad habits.


Here are 5 ways I stay motivated:


  1. ​Set goals; make sure they are practical, have a timeline and write them down somewhere where you will see them as a daily reminder. I like to set short term and long term goals.
  2. Have an accountability partner. Whether it's a friend, co-worker, spouse or trainer - designate someone who will check in on you, support your goals and help you reach them.
  3. Take a break, but get right back on track. Sometimes you have to listen to your body and take an unplanned rest day...or have that cheat meal once in awhile. The key is not letting that turn into falling off the wagon and losing control completely. Balance is so important but it's also a fine line.
  4. Make it easy to stay on track by planning ahead. I know I've said it many times before but preparing your healthy food and gym supplies ahead of time gets your frame of mind set on staying on track - make it a routine because we all know, the more inconvenient things are, the less likely you are to do them.
  5. Remember why you started, am I'm not just referring to goals like lose 20 pounds or fit into size 30 jeans...I'm talking about that thing that motivates you - the mental and emotional side of it. A little pep talk with yourself reminding you of those things goes a long way. Remember how your clothes don't fit, the feeling when your Dr told you you have health issues, the struggle and fatigue you have trying to keep up with your kids or life's demands in general, not being able to perform your duties as well on the job. Let those feelings turn into motivation and drive.

Life sometimes throws you curveballs that take away your motivation - learn to adapt and proceed with no excuses!
